RE: Rezerwy i młodzież

W ogóle to ciekaw jestem sytuacji naszych młodych.

RE: Rezerwy i młodzież
Rośnie nam kolejny mega talent w centrum drugiej linii.

RE: Rezerwy i młodzież
pewien dobry jegomość zrobił ranking młodych talentów , jeszcze numeru 1 nie ma ale będzie w najbliższych dniach.

Cytat:[Youth rankings] #10 Joel Castro Pereira

The first one out is Joel Castro Pereira.
What would be a list without at least one goalkeeper. Pereira is big, strong, and mobile. He is only 17 years of age, so I would expect him to making and challenge for the first team for at least a few seasons. /u/monsieurryan
I think it is correct to put emphasis on his age. The Swiss-born goalkeeper with a second citizenship at Portugal is still very young for a goalkeeper, but has improved rapidly since signing for us in 2012. He has the required physique for a top keeper, at 6'2, and is athletic and agile on the line and in the box. He has been of high regard to former coaches like Eric Steele, and proven himself worthy of just that. He has taken well to every increase in level, from the U18s, the Milk cup, our U21s, the UEFA youth league. He has also done well enough for Switzerland U15 and U16 that he was called up for Portugal U18 and U19.
As /u/monsieurryan describes his main attributes, they fit very well with how he looks on and off the ball in a game. He is an imposing figure, technically sound and with a winning mentality. As a goalkeeper, he might not be good enough to play first team games yet, but he has no apparent weakness at the levels he has played at yet. A very good base for further development.
His main challenges will probably be to perform up to par on what Sam Johnstone did the past few years. With Lindegaard nearing 31, Ben Amos not getting any first team action and Sam Johnstone doing really well on loans last year, the road to a spot on the bench may not be as long as one would first think. If Pereira can keep up his progress for a year or two, we might very well see him in a league cup game.
If he has what it takes to make it with United is almost impossible to say. Usually, our goalkeepers don't. But they very often end up at good clubs at a level of at least The Championship. Is he a new Luke Steele? Tom Heaton? Or could he become good enough to vacate for De Gea in the long run? It is tough for goalkeepers to break through at a big club, but Pereira seems to have at least a decent chance based on his talent and performances so far.
Cytat:[Youth Rankings] #9 Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Timothy Fosu-Mensah - Get used to seeing this name. A very technical CB/CM who has only played a handful of games is already impressing most of his watchers. He is good enough to play either of his preferred positions in the long term. He is one of the most complete players in the youth structure that we have. That would probably go along with his Dutch background and making their youths play at every position. If van Gaal wants to stick with a back three then Fosu-Mensah would be a perfect fit. I personally see him as a future CM/CDM. However still being only 16 years old (turns 17 in January) he is eligible for the under-18s for at least another season. But by the looks of it that won't matter as he will be in the under-21s soon enough. /u/monsieurryan
This signing has a very "Paul Pogba" feel to it for me. One of the highest rated youngsters in the continent, lots of clubs are interested, and we snatch him. This guy is a physical beast for his age, but has that rare mix which makes youth players stand out even more than that; he is smart on the ball, technically gifted and displays a great attitude on the pitch. You can tell that this guy breathes football, by just watching him play. Sort of like how you see that Wayne Rooney loves football.
Fosu-Mensah is young, athletic and quick. The last two is what characterizes many of the world class players these days. Being just 16 (17 tomorrow!), he has plenty of time to develop his abilities on the ball as well. We could be seeing a potential Vincent Kompany type of player in a few years. That said, I do agree with /u/monsieurryan that he is good enough to potentially become a complete midfielder in some time. His engine and physical abilities would make for a fantastic box-to-box midfielder if he works on his passing.
Timothy has been a regular starter for the Netherlands' youth teams from 15, till now. He is the captain of the prestigious Dutch U17 team, and was one of the star players in the Ajax youth system when we brought him in. An academy that has produced players such as these.http://i.imgur.com/wsHc5vQ.png
The future looks extremely bright for Fosu-Mensah, and I can honestly not wait to see him pushed up to the U21 squad. Going by how we've treated our best talents in the last few years, we'll likely see him tested in a few games this spring, and then permanently move him to the U21s sometime next season, at the latest. I have to admit that for me, Fosu-Mensah could very well be in a top 3 on this list. I just have not watched enough of him yet to justify a placement that high. He certainly deserves to be on this list from what I have seen though.
Cytat:#8, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
Cameron is a very versitile player. He has played in a CB pairing of two and also in a back three. He has played as a left back. He has played in midfield. So it is kind of hard to say where his future lies. He is good on the ball which is why he is so versitile.
First, I have got to admit that a busy fall semester has had me miss out on quite a few of the recent youth games. Therefore, I have only been able to watch Borthwick-Jackson a handful of times. How does he then warrant a place on this list? He has been good every single time I've seen him. As /u/monsieurryan says, he is very good on the ball, and versatile. Traits that Louis Van Gaal as well as Warren Joyce seem to appreciate.
As a player, he is probably most known for scoring the winner as our milk cup team won against the French club Vendee. He is a tall guy, though I have not been able to find the numbers for his height. The picture above illustrates his stature. As a player, he would remind you of a left-footed Rio Ferdinand type of centre back. His best traits are his athleticism and ability on the ball. He turns 19 next month, and I expect him to earn himself a short term loan deal at some point this spring, or next fall. It is crucial that he performs, as Van Gaal seems to already have taken a liking to other young defenders like McNair and Blackett.
/u/monsieurryan emphasizes his versatility, and a strong, tall, athletic, ball-playing player that can fill in at left-back, centre back and in midfield does at least have the potential to become a useful player at the upper levels of the Championship, or at the lower end of Premier League clubs. Perhaps like James Chester, an ex-red playing for Hull City. That said, it is hard to predict which players that are going to make that leap that forces the manager to think about including them in the first team squad. I would have never expected either Blackett or McNair over now released Fornasier or Michael Keane - had you asked for my opinion last fall.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is definitely one to keep an eye on for the rest of the U21 season. He has been playing a few times for the England U16s, before being called up to the U17s in 2013. This proves that he is among the leading players of his age group in the CB position in the country. If he can build upon his promising start to the season, I do not see what players like Blackett have that Borthwick-Jackson does not.
What do you guys make of our young defenders? How many of them will remain at the club after Van Gaal has transformed how we run things? How many of them are good enough? And then, how does Cameron Borthwick-Jackson compare to the other young defenders?

Cytat:#7, Axel Tuanzebe
Axel is a first year scholar and already a captains of the under-18s. Somebody joked earlier this season (when we only had 1 or 2 CBs left after the injruy crisis that has plagued us) if we had any body we could promote from the youth squads. I half heartedly said Tuanzebe. He is clearly well regarded around the club because of his captaincy at such an early stage. /u/monsieurryan
Tuanzebe was a massive United fan from a young age, being followed closely by the Man United youth system. We signed him up from a school (?) in the Rochdale area.
Physically, Axel is a large guy, and captains our U18 side. He is admired and very higly rated within the club system,
"He's a very, very good player," said Academy adviser Les Kershaw. "And is one of them that I really like because he has a strong personality."
Which is exactly what we are looking for in the long term. He is a strong, big lad with a strong personaliy - as Kershaw puts it. As a defender, he reads the ball well and knows how to both intercept and tackle opponents well. Being given the captaincy armband as soon as he was promoted to the U18s speaks volumes, as most of our youth players have a good attitude, and we have many potential captains in our ranks. Being the first choice among them is a massive compliment to Axel.
On the pitch, he plays like the leader he is, and shouts and directs his team mates around. As illustrated by the two consecutive Milk Cup wins in 2013 and 2014, Axel Tuanzebe has already gotten a taste of what it should feel like to be a United player. There is, however, a massive steps from playing youth player cupfinals, fighting to be the best in his age group and playing for a top U18 team in the country - to coming through the ranks and into the first team. He is a strong player with decent pass and good skills on the ball, like all of our young defenders. He can also fill in at the fullback positions or in midfield. There is no doubt that primarily, he is to be a centre back.
As for his skill levels, potential and future - I am extremely enthusiastic. As discussed in earlier youth ranking-posts, it is near impossible to make a decent guess at who is going to make it at the club. Being a leader, having a powerful personality and being a physically gifted player are all traits that could see him have a better chance than most. As I have hinted at earlier, I am not sure Tyler Blackett is better than a lot of our young prospects at the club, and age is definitely in favor of the likes Tuanzebe and Borthwick-Jackson.
Tuanzebe is has a dual passport with DR Congo and England, and a contract with the club until the summer of 2016. This guy is going to be one of the main "men to watch" in the near future.
Cytat:# 6, Josh Harrop
Probably can't say anything that hasn't already been said by rdzzl. /u/monsieurryan
If you watched Josh Harrop playing a game without knowing his nationality, you would have most likely pinned him as a Spanish midfield talent. He is, alongside the likes of Andreas Pereira and Sean Goss, the most confident and calm on the ball out of any of our young players. He dances around the football pitch like an Ander Herrera (on the ball), and excells at creating attacks – both from deep and in and around the box. He is, first and foremost, a creator with an eye for goal, and is also excellent at setting up plays (triangles, chips, 1-2s) with his team mates. For those that followed the youth team match threads last year, you might have caught me verbally salivating over this guy, week in and week out. He brings not only the mentioned above qualities to the games, but also the same kind of flair that pushed Januzaj into the spotlights.
His personality comes through when you compare his interviews with his performances on the pitch. He is a hard-working, ambitious and serious young fellow. He seems to have that natural self-belief which certain players have about them, increasing confidence and the likes. What I love about this type of player, is that they often do the unexpected. I guess that is connected to the confidence! Like when Ronaldo goes for a long-shot against Porto, Hazard takes on four players from the wing or Scholes tries the impossible pass, and succeeds. I don't mean to compare him to these players in play-style, but what I am getting at is that his sometimes you see his confidence in the way he plays. The same type of confidence that makes these special players do the extraordinary. This is rare, and Mr. Harrop has got it!
On the pitch, Josh can do well in several positions. He's played as a striker for the U18s, as a number 10 and even right back. In the UEFA youth cup, he supposedly played well on the left wing, though I have to admit I didn't get to watch the youth cup games. If I had to put stick a position to his name, I'd go with the Ander Herrera at Bilbao role. Advanced midfielder, that tracks back but has his main tasks going forward and creating stuff.
When asked about his goal target for the season, he aims high for a midfielder:
I’d like 10 goals from midfield. Perhaps in all competitions but it’s a target isn’t it? Someone else has got to score the goals other than Willo and hopefully I can get a few this season.
He's still young, and not all of the best players are superstars in their teenage years. At 19, he's been called up to the England U20 team three times this fall, and has impressed.
For the remainder of the U21 season, he is definitely one to watch in our U21 team. While his defensive contributions consist mostly of effort and determination, rather than fantastic positioning and good tackling skills, he's always dangerous on the ball, adds pressure to our play with his movement, and is excellent at finding team mates in space or through on goal. His close technique is among the best at the club in my opinion, and he makes football look easy. If he works a bit on the power in his shots, and his passing range, he could very well see some time on the bench or even pitch for the first team next year.
Cytat:#5, Sean Goss
Sean Goss - This is my personal favorite player. He hasn't had much match time this season either by injury or illness or by being kept out because of the Pearson/Rothwell pairing. By my eye is you squint while watching him play you would think that you are watching Michael Carrick. /u/monsieurryan
Sean Goss was signed from Exeter City in 2012, and is not one of the local lads from our team. We took him on a trial from his old team team, with the exam being ”Aegon Future Cup”, in Amsterdam. Sean impressed enough on trial and as a player in the tournament that we paid £100k for him. He did impressively adapt instantly to our youth setup, and is now one of the leading players at our youth system. Goss was nominated for the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award last year, but was beaten by Josh Harrop and James Wilson. Paul McGuinness describes Goss as follows:
He's stepped up and knows he's ready to go into the Reserves. Goss is a really elegant footballer, with a lovely left foot, who can play terrific football. We expect both of them to go on and have really good careers.
Sean Goss is a Man United fan, and it is quite clear that he has been modeling his play after a certain #16 in the first team. As /u/monsieurryan and everybody else that follow our youth teams notice, he is like a left-footed copy of a young Michael Carrick. He is lanky, calm on the ball, has great vision and a decent passing range for a young player. He reads the game well, and goes forward when the time is right. For those of you that remember a young Michael Carrick (West Ham, beginning of his career at Spurs), he was not a holding midfielder at all. He was more of a two-way, creative midfielder, and was way more offensive than the role he was given by Ferguson. Goss is more like that, than the 2015 Michael Carrick, though their play-style is still quite similar off the ball. Corrigan1's highlight video shows how similar the two players are, if you have got the time to watch it.
What I personally find to be Goss' best quality, is harder to quantify. He makes players around him tick. With short, tidy passing, positioning and the vision and accuracy required to switch the play quickly, players like Pereira, Wilson, Harrop and Weir all shine in his presence. On the pitch, I see Goss as a holding midfielder in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, or a midfield duo with a more offensive player alongside him in a 4-4-2 type of formation. He is great at forming triangles as the holding player (much like Daley Blind), and finds players behind the opposition whenever there is time and space for the pass to happen. What he would have to work on, in my opinion, would be his physicality. He is a tall lad, so there is a lot of potential for strength. He also needs to work on his long, long range passing. As his short pass, and "normal long pass (25-40 meters)" are both excellent. Finding those Saidy Janko runs from behind the midfield line seems to be more of a challenge. I also think that he has a way to go when it comes to intercepting/tackling the best players (fast, agile, technical) that we face at a U21 levels. As a slower midfielder than say Ben Pearson, positioning becomes even more important if he wants to hold the defensive responsibility from the midfield position.
What seems to be his greatest challenge in terms of making it at Man United, is that we are most likely putting on our big spender pants in the summer. Strootman, De Jong, Schneiderlin? Signings like these would make it hard for a holding midfielder to break into a team that already has Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera and Blind in it. That said, if you take your time to join us in the U21 match threads, make sure you keep an eye on player number 6 (usually), and compare him to our current holding midfielders. This guy is not far from making that final step to make him relevant when Van Gaal picks his pre-season squad next summer.
Cytat:#4, Joe Rothwell
Rothwell is similar to Pearson but with a bit more attacking flavor to him. Rothwell kind of exploded on to the under-21 scene over the past 20 months. He has ended up forming a great midfield pair with Pearson and ultimately nudged out Ekangamene (who ended up playing mostly at CB until he left on a free to go to Belgium). Joe is the pure definition of a box to box midfielder. Staying healthy should be one of his main priorities. /u/monsieurryan
Most of you might remember Joe from this GIF hitting the frontpage of /r/reddevils some while ago. It kind of sums him up quite nicely. The finish is perhaps the best he's ever shown at the U21 level, but the run and the passing is classic Joe Rothwell. He is a Manchester lad with a seemingly great attitude on and off the pitch. No bullshit. Hard work and good team spirit seems to be the core values, as you often see him high-fiving teammates, and is one of the first to congratulate someone when they score. Traits that I personally love in a young player. Worth mentioning is also that he's been called up to the England U-squads from 16, and all the way to the England U-20s. I expect him to recieve a call-up for the U21s this spring, if he can find his form like last year.
As a player, he is the type that gets involved all over the pitch. Perhaps a bit too much for his own good. This is evident both when we do have the ball, and when we are chasing for it. As /u/monsieurryan points out, Rothwell perfectly fits the definition of a box-to-box midfielder, and his main strength lies in how well-rounded his overall game is. Alongside Ben Pearson in particular, he has been part of what makes our U21 midfield such a pain to play against. Constant pressure, hard tackling and physicality faces the opponents of our young red devils on the pitch.
This was, especially last season, a joy to watch. For those who still remember the dark times of the 2013/2014 season, this was exactly what we were missing. We played static, uninspiring football with the first team, but energized and intense football with the U21s. Rothwell was and is one of the key components of that team.
If you have been through his Man United profile, you see it touch upon how he hits injury spells. This is, for me, one of the main reasons he is not hitting a top 2 in this list. Had he been able to progress without all the injuries, he could have been the name on everybody's lips this year. That said, this goes for many youngsters at big clubs.
His technical ability is somewhat underrated, as he has decent ball control. He is faster than it seems, and he has an eye for the releasing pass - usually into space, or to a player running into a channel. He is one of those players that you really notice when they are not playing. The loss to Chelsea in the U21 FA Youth Cup comes to mind. Our team was playing alright, but was sorely missing Joe's runs, tackling, pressure and energy. He also offers a massive release of pressure by always running into space, making him an easy option for a pass when we win the ball. Exactly what we were missing against in that game. Chelsea beat us, despite of players like Pearson and Janko running their asses off for us. Other qualities he's got, is that while he is methodical and simple in his playstyle most of the time, he does have a bag of tricks that comes in handy in tight situations. He often heel-flicks it, or pulls out an unexpected skillmove. As a player, I think I would compare him to a more offensive, young Darren Fletcher, or a slower type Fabian Delph.
How far can he go? I am not sure. A lot depends on injuries. Seeing Michael Keane snapped up by Burnley today, and comparing Michael Keane to a lot of our current youth prospects, I think we'll see a handful or more of them end up at lower half Premier League sides or top half Championship sides in the next few years. If he keeps up the progress he has shown over the past year and a half, he could surprise us by knocking on the door for first team football next season.
His biggest two challenges is to become prominent at some aspect of his game, and to stay injury free. Be that creating chances, scoring, maintaining or winning the ball. He is very good at all of them, but not yet prominent at any of them. In my opinion. I think Corrigan1's video (once again) is excellent, though it only shows him at his best. When he is in form, and stays off injuries, he is one of our most important players at the youth level.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpEldhg-BJA

Cytat:#3, Ben Pearson
Pearson is almost the exact opposite of Periera. He isn't the most skillful. He isn't going to be the guy who everybody is raving about. Along with those things is that you will hardly ever see him play a bad game. At 20 years of age, Pearson may be a late bloomer to the first team selection. He could possibly be in van Gaals plans for the FA Cup or rather, I think, in his best interest is a loan to a championship side where he is playing week in and week out. /u/monsieurryan.
Ben is what many would characterize as a classic midfield terrier. He's got good acceleration, decent passing, excellent positioning and the recognizable Man United spirit to him while playing. In many games, he is the driving force of our U21 midfield's pressure as we breeze through the season winning games. Of course, flashy players like Januzaj, Janko and Wilson are more likely to get the headlines, but similar to Joe Rothwell, Ben Pearson is absolutely one of - if not the - first name on the team sheet when Warren Joyce picks his starting XI.
Ben is an Oldham lad that joined the club in 2004, making 2015 his 11th year at the club. The Man United website describes him as:
While comparisons to former players should be treated with caution, his style in some ways bring to mind Paul Scholes in the manner he manoeuvres the ball and has a low centre of gravity. Always looking for an option, he passes the ball thoughtfully around the midfield and also enjoys making meaty challenges.
And I disagree. His skills on the ball are very good, but he does not remind me of Paul Scholes at all. Think more Lassana Diarra, Lucas Leiva (pre-injury) or Lee Cattermole in terms of which part of the pitch he covers, where the latter example probably is more accurate. Covering large areas in defense, while also contributing going forward with runs from deep and simple and direct passing. Don't get me wrong, though, he does have a neat pass and good vision of the play. It is just not what I would call his dominant abilities at this point. Ben almost exclusively plays in the defensive midfield position for the U21s, and while his future could lie further up the pitch, I think his playstyle and strengths suit that position very well. It is different from the Michael Carrick, Xabi Alonso or Daley Blind though, which could be a challenge for him breaking through with our first team. As he has the burst of pace in small areas, and good vision, he could very well turn into a more box-to-box midfielder in time. Against the best opposition, however, he usually controls the midfield circle and the space infront of our defense for our U21s.
Another quality that Pearson is well-known for, is his hard-hitting tackles, interceptions and temper that is evident in all his play. He offers great intensity on the pitch, and must certainly be an inspiring player to play next to. Ben Pearson is a player that almost always stand out in the big games at every level, and has been a regular England U-player, all the way from U16 to the U20s. He has also been a reliable standout performer for our youth teams in FA youth cup games, international UEFA youth cup games and in league games against the bigger sides, and to add to that, he never plays a bad game. Qualities that are very much appreciated at the highest level of football.
Once again, Corrigan1 has made a brilliant hype video for one of our young players.
At the time of writing this, Pearson is loaned out to Barnsley in football league 1. I was personally hoping to see him in the Championship, and I suspect a few good performances at Barnsley might give him that after this first month. If not, he'll at least get to play regularly for Barnsley in a first team environment and prove his worth. I do not think it is overly optimistic to assume that Ben is going to be a key player for the Tykes.
The same way we expected players like Chris Eagles and David Jones (way back) to make first team appearances based on their importance for the youth team, I think we can expect Pearson to figure in next summer's tour. And for those of you who have not seen him yet, I guarantee you that you will love his energy, work-rate and touch of finesse with that.
What do you guys make of Pearson? Does he deserve to be higher or lower on the list in your opinion? Will he make an impact at Barnsley? Can he claim a spot in the Man United squad next year? And will he turn out a pure defensive midfielder, or a more box-to-box type one?
.

Cytat:#2, Demetri Mitchell
Demetri Mitchell is fast, tricky, clever on the ball and a creator at the core of his play. Watching him run around for our youth team, his body kind of reminds of a young Welbs. He is sort of lanky, but you see the potential for putting on muscles. As /u/monsieurryan mentions, he is a talent that potentially can match that of a Ravel Morrison before we let him go. A wonderkid in many ways. In a team setting, he presents himself as a fine mixture between selfishness and team-playing ability, where he both goes for the magical, but very often sets up players to score.
He is good with both of his feet, and can shoot, cross, dribble and pass with either. This means that we often see him drifting from the wing and inside, to the opposite wing. Sometimes he comes deep to pick up the ball if we are struggling to create. This all comes down to Mitchell's ability to influence games, as /u/monsieurryan points out. If he is unable to influence it from the side, he'll simple move to where he can. A trait that makes him very visible at a youth level. Much like how Adnan Januzaj started gathering hype two years ago. Not only does he influence games, but make sure you pay attention when you watch him play. He often scores absolute screamers, such as his goal against Bayern in the Aegon Cup.
He tends to combine nicely with especially Gribbin and Rashford at the U18s, and the trio makes for a fearsome attack from our young reds. Demetri is a manc, and turned 18 just last week. This next calendar year is going to be massive for him. As a player, he is absolutely lethal if he is given a few metres of space. His main challenges would be to improve on his delivery and shot power. For pretty much everything else, he is absolutely top notch for his age.
I would be surprised to not see him tagging along for our summer tour in July. His contracts runs out next year, but it is expected that we offer him an extention as he is very highly rated within the club. Thinking about him in terms of Louis Van Gaal's history of attacking players, and how his system usually develops; I could see Mitchell do well both in an attacking midfield role (though this position is very much contested at the moment) and on either flank.
As for merits, he was reportedly one of our- if not the - best player at the Milk Cup in 2014. He is has been a regular for England at the youth level, earning 12 U17 caps since 2013, and 2 caps for the U18s. He was a starter for the England U17 team that won the European Championship last May, beating Netherlands in the final game of the tournament.
Mitchell is one of the players I feel like we can expect the most from in the years to come. Provided he manages to dodge the worst types of injuries, and continue his progress, we should be expecting him to dominate on loan, like Jordan Ibe of Liverpool has done, or being phased directly in to our first team within the next two or three seasons. If you haven't yet seen him play, Corrigan1 has a three great videos of him at your disposal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVYeJp4fKQc

Pierwszy pewnie Perreira.

RE: Rezerwy i młodzież
